Singacheap

Well, I've just fiished my time in singapore and fly to Krabi in Thailand this afternoon. After an intial period of basically shitting my pants and questioning my judgement I have had an exceptional time here. I arrived here at around 4pm on saturday and the flight was just awful. I have never felt further from my comfort zone than at Rhiyad airport. When we transferred they lined all of the women up on one wall and all of the blokes on the other. They the let all of the women through but made the form a seperate queue the other side of security, at which point they were all individually searched whilst getting chatted up in the queue by the security staff (who then touched them up). All of the blokes just walked through without beig searched. Every person in the airport stared at me like they wanted to kill me. There was a smokig area which was basically an alcove behind a store that was packed with arabs around an ashtray, they made me feel pretty welcome. I was so intimmidated that it made me need another smoke, your classic cycle of fear.

Anyway, once that was done I arrived in singapore and basically wondered around aimlessly in a sleep deprived daze. Got to my hostel and my lovely 10 bed dorm was effectively a 50 bed dorm, as it was 5 x 10 bed rooms seperated by curtains. The cunt on the bunk above me came rolling in at 2am and i seriously debated putting a bar of soap into my pillow case and smashing him around the head until he shut the fuck up. I got my own reveng in the most insignificant of manners when I woke up at 5 am and started rocking the bed until I heard hm mutter "what the fuck are you doing", that'll learn him.

Yesterday I used just about every form of transport going - train, rapid transit, car, monorail - and wait for it - Segway, a life long dream realised. I drove the segway around some shit nature reserve on sentosa island, which is effectively a massive man made amusement park. I felt like something inbetween a tourist and a peado, but there was also two amazing beaches there so relaxed there and had a couple of beers.

Headed over to little india in the afternoon to get some food, where I met a genuine chocolate face. Awesome place, didn't end up getting any food as I ran into some american navy boys (douchebags) who I ended up drinking with from about 3 in the afternoon until whatever time I got in last night, which I think was about 2am. Woke ths morning in a mild panic as I had no idea how I got home and where all of my stuff was. In a drunked haze I'd somehow managed to padlock my rucksack to the back post of my bunk, I can only imagine how irritating that process must've been for the other 9 people in the room, as the padlock I used was tucked away in my already locked up larger rucksack. The void under my bed that I'd managed to crawl under to lock it was so small that I had to turn my head sideways, so I imagine it was quite the stealth operation after a skinfull last night

Feel like a bag of shit this morning and just eaten for the second time since leaving England 3 days ago, the other time being the free hostel breakfast yeasterday at 9am. My thriftness has been evened out by the $15 pints of beer, although I think most of the booze got bought from me in a bar by some bender who was trying to tap me up. I also vaguely remember sitting with a asian band and some girl who I think was called ashtray or somthing. Speakig of ashtrays, the one navy guy told me a story about his mate who thought he was getting rebecca tattoed in hebrew on his arm (his daughter), when he went into a port a local told him that it actually meant ashtray.I'll put up some photos on here once I find a computer with a usb port, this piece of shit is the equivalent of an 11 inch matsui.

Anyway, flying into thailand today to a place called krabi, I think it's the place where you get a boat over tophi phi island. Not booked a hostel or anything so I'll probably sleep in a wheely bin tonight. Best head off as my flight leaves in a couple of hours, although I have still not received any confirmation from tiger airways that they booked me on, the piece of shit internet crashed before I could get any booking reference so I'll probably get fleeced at the airport. Trying to find his way in

Bully appears to be just about the right fit for the rucksack, who needs clothes when you have a bulldog. So brave, so ruddy, bloody brave

The countdown is on

Well, it has finally come around. Two years in the making and the day has arrived. This time in 24hrs I'll be winging my way to Saudi Arabia. This time in 48hrs i'll be having my hands chopped off. This time in 72hrs I'll be getting a public whipping, and this time in 96hrs I'll be getting stoned to death (and not in a good way)

Any way, I feel fairly well prepared now. I have emailed a hostel, and being as I'll be jet lagged off the back of 22hrs of travelling time, I thought I'd treat myself and get a nice, relaxing, peaceful nights sleep in a 10 bed mixed dorm.

I'm feeling surprisingly calm about things, I thought i'd be proper bricking it by now but any feelings of excitement or dread have been washed over by moving out of my flat in Bristol on a stinking hangover.

My rucksack is pretty much packed, I weighed it last night and it's coming in at 13kg, which seems quite reasonable. It should weigh less once they lose it in Riyhad.

Anyway, I shall try and keep this up-to-date on my travels and get photo's uploaded etc. See you on the other side mo fo's x
